RHETORIC OF HATE PRIOR TO JEREMIAH DUGGAN’S DEATH

By Yves Messer [1]

Jeremiah Duggan, an English and Jewish student, was being recruited by the LaRouche political cult in France where he lived. He was invited to attend an anti-war conference by the LaRouche’s “Schiller Institute” and his “Youth Movement” at Bad Schwalbach (near Wiesbaden), Germany, on March 21-23, 2003.

The last day a presentation was given by the “LaRouche Youth Movement” entitled: 'A Second American Revolution’ [2] .

The “LaRouche organization” ’s central paranoid obsession evolves around a mythical war between “American nationalism” and “British Imperialism”; the “British” being considered by LaRouche as the archetypal and absolute “enemy of mankind”. He also blames the “British” for killing “American Presidents” [3] or for brainwashing “assassins” with their London’s “Tavistock Institute”. Molly Kronberg 1 wrote:

“For years, they have defamed the Tavistock Clinic, a highly respected institute in London which pioneered some forms of psychoanalysis. They write that the Tavistock breeds assassins who travel all over the world killing political opponents.“ [4]

Jeremiah Duggan (who was seen at the “Tavistock clinic” at the age of seven during his parents divorce [5] ), was found dead on March 27, 2003, a 100 yards from LaRouche’s European headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Background to the conference: “Apocalypse Now”

As Washington Post journalist April Witt wrote 5:

THE MOOD WAS APOCALYPTIC AS PEOPLE GATHERED AT A LAROUCHE CONFERENCE in Bad Schwalbach, Germany, on March 21, 2003. After tense weeks of international debate, the air assault on Baghdad was underway. […] (LaRouche charged: ) Now the United States is using Iraq to ignite catastrophic global warfare, said LaRouche, according to the official transcript of his speech posted on his campaign Web site. The Bush Administration "is totally committed to worldwide fascist imperialism," LaRouche warned, adding that North Korea, Iran and China are already targets. […] LaRouche told his audience that this plot to launch a new world war has been intellectually influenced by people who, like Hitler, admire Nietzsche, but "being Jewish, they couldn't qualify for Nazi Party leadership, even though their fascism was absolutely pure! As extreme as Hitler! They sent them to the United States." […] "So, is Israel behind this? No. Israel is a hand grenade being thrown at the Arab world . . . George Bush hasn't got the brains to be behind it. Who's behind it? . . . The independent central-banking-system crowd, the slime-mold. The financier interests." The very same people, LaRouche explained, who brought Hitler to power in 1930. Forces must be mobilized to crush this terrible plot, LaRouche said. "Leadership means one thing," he concluded. "It means people who, like Jeanne d'Arc" -- Joan of Arc -- "are willing to put their lives on the line to get the job done."

Speakers at the three-day conference returned again and again to the martyrdom theme, LaRouche-posted transcripts of their speeches show. Elodie Viennot, a LaRouche leader in France, asked the young people present if they could be as brave as Joan of Arc if they were taken to Guantanamo Bay and interrogated mercilessly "because you are associated with Lyndon LaRouche?" [6]

Joan of Arc: kill the “British”

The central theme for the last panel was to learn from and be inspired by the example of 15th Century French heroine “Joan of Arc” aka “The Maid of Orléans” who ‘guided by Divine guidance’ led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years' War to free France from the “British”.

She was captured by the Burgundians, sold to the English, tried by an ecclesiastical court, and burned at the stake when she was nineteen years old. She is considered as a martyr. Joan of Arc is also a well known French symbol used by French nationalists, racists and fascists.

This LaRouche’s presentation was an attempt to “link” Joan of Arc’s war against the “British” to LaRouche’s own war against the imminent “Iraq War” which he claims being orchestrated by the “British” and a “Zionists/Neocons/Leo Strauss” cabal [7] .  LaRouche is also a notorious conspiracy theorist who contributed to the thesis that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were an “inside job” with help from the Israeli Mossad and British Intelligence. [8]

Elodie Viennot, a French LaRouche leader, said:
“So they put her on trial for five months. Every day, for eight to nine hours, she is interrogated nonstop. Would you hold up? If for eight or nine hours, right now, you were taken to Guantanamo in Cuba, and you were questioned and questioned and questioned, because you are associated with Lyndon LaRouche? And they try to break you, by all psychological means they can. How would you do? Would you have the moral fitness to hold out in this fight as the meaning of your life—and that they cannot touch you, because it is a meaning that is just not in the physical realm? They can't kill it. …”

She urged her audience to heed LaRouche's call to take Joan of Arc as their role model and make their bid for immortality:
"They burned her alive, and she didn't flinch at all . . . Are you willing to put your life on the line? Because your life might actually never die if you accomplish those matters . . . “

Here is French National Front leader Jean-Marie Le Pen in front of Joan Of Arc’s statue at their annual May rally in Paris.

She concluded:
“The reality is higher than that. So you don’t have to worry about dying, you don't have to worry about this "being not considered good," because if you know you are fighting for the good, nobody can touch you. They can't get you to flicker.”

Such a language is comparable to suicide terrorists’.

When LaRouche justifies the use of violence

These warmongering, violent interventions discomforted some members from the audience since LaRouche claims the heritage of such non-violent figures like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. or Mahatma Gandhi
Someone asked:
“My question is: Jeanne d'Arc changed the world, but she also used violence and killed people. How can you explain this?”

Jean-Gabriel from Paris replied, defending the use of violence by redefining the term “nonviolence”:

“I want to add something about nonviolence. The real term to use is "active nonviolence." We have a minister from India, who knew Gandhi. If you look at the symbol of independence for India, it is a kind of spinning wheel. Gandhi

said, we will not kill people, but we will destroy the economic system of the British Empire. To bring independence to India, one major weapon of Gandhi was to teach people how to make fabric, instead of importing it. This was very "violent," for the British.”

Another person asked LaRouche:
“Does this mean that you can kill a person, and if so, when?

LaRouche replied that violence and murder could be justified under certain circumstances. He said:
These are not absolutes. When you try to reduce cultural morality to so-called single issues of precepts, you enter into fallacy.
[… there is long historical diversion into French politics, note]
So our objective is to avoid war. Our objective is not to capitulate to the destruction of society, wilfully, but to develop strategic defense, to know how to defend our society, when we have to. But never to undertake arms unless we absolutely have to, first; and, secondly, unless by undertaking arms, we have reason to believe that we can accomplish the necessary great good.
Otherwise, we have no right to kill. So it is not an absolute. The point is, we have to say, we want a certain order of mankind. We will fight only to defend that order; we will never do it foolishly, we will never do it as a demonstration of protest; we will do it only when it's necessary, and also, likely successful to secure humanity thereafter. Otherwise, never do it.

Killing is “necessary” he says when it is to “secure humanity” and “avoid war”.
Now, given the fact this conference took place in an “apocalyptic atmosphere” where LaRouche and his organization saw themselves as the only ones who could stop “Armageddon”, the sub-message becomes clear: any threat to LaRouche’s life could justify the use of violence.

LaRouche explained clearly that he is the only one capable of stopping the Iraq war:
“Someone has to pull the strings of power, to make it conscious, and make it happen. And that’s what I’m determined to do”.

The day after this conference (March 24), the LaRouche’s Schiller Institute issued a press release:  “We Must Stop This War” with the clear message that they are the only ones who could stop the war, the “pacifist movements” being considered as useful at best. And LaRouche reiterated his apocalyptic warnings:
“If you don't stop it, there is no after Iraq war. The Iraq war will never end. The destruction of Iraq, may occur within the next days or weeks, but the Iraq war will never end. Because you will be going into another war, under an administration, which is totally committed to a worldwide fascist imperialism.”

The case of Indira Gandhi’s assassination

The LaRouche Youth panel also tried to use the example of Indira Gandhi as a “modern day Joan of Arc” who fought against the “British”.
LaRouche who indeed met with her briefly in April 1982, published a book in 1985 one year after her death blaming the Zionists and the British for her murder.

LaRouche’s wife and head of his European organization, Helga Zepp-LaRouche recalled:
“I had the fortune at one point, to talk to Indira Gandhi about Jeanne d'Arc. As she and her father say in their memoirs: When she was studying in France, dealing with Jeanne d'Arc was a determining idea in her life, and she drew a lot of her greatness, in her later life, from this earlier occupation with the example of Jeanne d'Arc.”

In a 1993 interview LaRouche clearly accused British Intelligence and the “Zionist lobby” (i.e. ADL, B’nai B’rith) for the murder of Indira Gandhi:

Q: Before we get back to this Project Democracy policy for Ibero-America, exactly what was the involvement of Rosenthal 16 and the ADL with the assassination of Indira Gandhi?

MR. LAROUCHE: There was a Khalistan front, which was the front which killed and claimed credit for killing Mrs. Gandhi, which announced they were out to kill her and commit such terrorist acts prior to the assassination of Mrs. Gandhi in October of 1984. Rabbi Rosenthal [19] was a campaigner on behalf of Khalistan, a campaigner in conscious support of this effort to rally assassinations against Mrs. Gandhi and others in India. They were directly involved in this. There was a book written, called Derivative Assassination, which documents a good deal of the connection, how certain sections of British Intelligence, the B'nai B'rith, was deployed in the United States to assist that faction of British Intelligence in rallying support or sympathy for the project to assassinate Mrs. Gandhi. [20]

  Not surprisingly:

“On the morning of Jeremiah Duggan's death, Helga Zepp-LaRouche described him, at a meeting in their offices, as a British Jew and a representative of the enemy sent over from Britain by the Tavistock clinic to harm the LaRouche organization.” [21]
